bangkok

After traveling for over 24 hours, we finally arrives in Bangkok last night. We woke up early this morning to explore the city. First was a tour of two temple complexes where we saw the largest solid gold buddah and the largest reclining buddah. Our tour guide drove us all through the city and we got see how amazingly colorful Bangkok is - the flowers, fruit, taxis (hot pink, lime green, bright blue), & bright orange busses. After the tour we went to a HUGE market with 10,000+ vendors where I got a fantastic colorful fanny pack & huge silly aladin pants which I’ll probably wear every day. At the market we got lunch at a little street vendor who, though she spoke no English, made us a wonderful rice & veggie meal after we showed her our “no meat” piece of paper that our tour guide made for us in Thai. There were so many homemade hot sauce & chili sauce options which was great, plus the entire meal and a water bottle was only 50 Baht (about 1.50 USD).

Tomorrow afternoon we fly north to Chiang Mai to spend a day in the city & then start volunteering at the elephant nature park on Monday.

So far so good, Asia.
